Peonies are my absolute favorite flower. And the white ones? Well now, those are just great fluffy clouds of perfection.
Peonies, especially the white ones, always manage to make me think of Cornelia - the main character in Marisa de los Santos’ books Love Walked In and Belong To Me. If you haven’t picked up the books, I definitely recommend them.
Cornelia’s narration is sweet and whimsical, but I think she’s also quite wise as well. She’s really quite an endearing character, listing white peonies and the film The Philadelphia Story among her favorite things.
Love Walked In is really quite serious, dealing with some more heavier themes, but the resiliency and resourcefulness of the characters is brilliant. I love the book.
